GreatCables.com in the beginning...
In the late 80's in Brookfield, Wisconsin, two companies existed side by side in location but worlds apart in concept.
Inside the suburban setting outside of Milwaukee, two very different establishments enjoyed a brisk trade. A man named Jon DeGlopper ran a successful office supply distribution company called Dealer's Office Equipment. Jon's company boasted casual environment, huge warehouse, a 25+ year history and over 70 of the most wonderful employees in town.
Sharing his office and warehouse space, his daughter was also enjoying a bustling business. Jennifer ran Value Computer Accessories, Inc. Customers were drawn by the exceptional customer service and large selection of computer products and hard to find computer connection parts. Father and daughterentrepreneurs shared stories and learned from each other.
Before long, Value Computer Accessories, Inc. outgrew its space at Dealer's Office Equipment. The company moved to a larger location in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.
As the company grew, Jennifer DeGlopper severed on the Board of Directors of several non profit organizations, including Camp Heartland, Great Lakes Hemophilia and Hang Tough. She mentored entrepreneurs in the inner city of Milwaukee. She served as President of the Mliwaukee Chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs Organization. She was appointed to Senator Russ Feingold's Small Business Advisory Committee.
Jennifer and her company were bestowed several honors, including:
Milwaukee Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Award
Ernst & Young Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist
Milwaukee YMCA Woman of Distinction
Working Woman Magazine Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist
Chosen for the prestigious and highly competitive Inc. Magazine & MIT's Birthing of Giants Program.
In 2000, Jennifer started another successful venture named MousePads.com. Jennifer sold this business in 2004 to Digispec Corporation of Las Vegas Nevada.
In 2000, Jennifer began to transition Value Computer Accessories, Inc. to an online presence and changed the business model to e-commerce based. The website GreatCables.com was created and instantly became a success.
In 2002, Jon DeGlopper retired and shortly thereafter passed away. Before his death, he purchased a condo in Punta Gorda Florida.
In 2006 Value Computer Accessories Inc. officially transitioned to GreatCables.com and the company moved to it's current location in sunny Punta Gorda Florida.
